The Entrepreneurial Opportunities Group (EOG) was formed by Kansas Independent Pharmacy Service Corporation (KPSC) in the fall of 1997 to help promote the advantages and opportunities available in independent pharmacy practice to University of Kansas pharmacy students. The EOG is made up of experienced Kansas independent pharmacy practitioners, KPSC CEO Peter Stern and Associate Dean Gene Hotchkiss (as a liaison with the School of Pharmacy).
KPSC's EOG initiative provides scholarships to one or more University of Kansas School of Pharmacy students each year who have demonstrably shown interest in pursuing independent pharmacy practice as a career choice The EOG does allow past EOG scholarship winners to reapply for the chance to receive additional funds. Scholarship awards in the past have generally ranged from $500 to $1,500.
The EOG scholarship is open to students who are members of the University of Kansas NCPA Student Chapter. Students must fill out an application form, and then participate in a number of approved activities that will help them learn more about independent pharmacy as a career choice. Students will then have to write an essay in response to questions that they receive via email in February. The last component is participating in an interview with two EOG members.
All students interested in pursuing an EOG scholarship for the present year must fill out the Application Form. Students may apply for an EOG scholarship once per school year.
A list of approved activities and points that may be obtained for each activity are included on the EOG Scholarship Point Tracking Form. All students must submit the online Point Tracking Form to KPSC/EOG no later than two weeks after each event attended. Participation in all activities will be verified with the School of Pharmacy.
All students pursuing an EOG scholarship will be sent information in February requesting answers to one or more essay questions concerning interest in independent pharmacy and future career plans. All essays will need to be submitted online through this website.
Interviews of students who meet or exceed the point requirement on the EOG Scholarship Point Tracking Form and who have turned in responses to the essay questions will be invited to participate in the last qualifying component for an EOG scholarship - an interview with two members of the EOG.
