KPSC is the Voice of Independent Pharmacy in Kansas. We represent you with leadership and great experience on many federal and state legislative/ regulatory issues. We work regularly with KDHE/Medicaid as they plan the transformation of the Medicaid program. We also work with Medicaid to share concerns about RAC audits. KPSC Vice-Chairman Jeff Sigler, past Chairman Sam Boyajian and KPSC CEO Pete Stern flew to Washington, D.C. in late April to visit our congressional delegation and a senior Health and Human Services staff member. Our visits were very constructive and centered on the need for timely MAC updates in Part D and commercial plans, CMS regulations that are burdensome for independents and the need for specific areas of PBM oversight.
The 2012 KPSC Mid-Year Meeting will be held May 5 and 6, at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence. Please save this weekend on your calendar and plan to attend. For more information, please refer to the memo mailed to all stockholders.
Pace has a very competitive agreement for stockholders with McKesson as our national partner. Besides excellent cost of goods, monthly rebates and year end distributions, this relationship is also dedicated to the advocacy needs of KPSC’s stockholders. McKesson recently provided $10,000 to KPSC’s EOG scholarship fund, for the second year in a row, to help provide awards to the growing number of K.U. pharmacy students who are showing strong interest in independent pharmacy.
KPSC has provided a general support grant to NCPA to support their Legislative Conference. KPSC views NCPA as a key partner in our advocacy efforts.
KPSC provides flexibility for stockholders that may wish to retain a different wholesaler (via a program announced in summer 2010) to be grandfathered as stockholders so they may continue to access all of KPSC’s important services.
KPSC's Entrepreneurial Opportunities Group (EOG) initiative is in its fourteenth (14) year educating KU pharmacy students on the advantages of a career in independent pharmacy. The EOG scholarship program has awarded 154 scholarships to 112 students since 1998. KPSC has contributed over $70,000 for EOG scholarships. A growing number of past EOG scholarship winners are now owners of or employees at Kansas independent practices. The EOG is building the next generation of Kansas independents.
A key initiative of KPSC is our campaign to promote the value of KPSC stockholder pharmacies - Kansas Hometown Pharmacy - The People Who Take Care of You. The fifth edition of Kansas Hometown Pharmacy will be coming in mid 2012. Patients can find Kansas Hometown Pharmacies in their area by visiting www.kshometownpharmacy.com.
